Betting in Canadian Dollars |
The Canadian Dollar is a strong international currency, but let's face it, it's not as widely recognized and accepted as the US Dollar, the Euro or even the Pound Sterling. It's nice to be able to make bets in the home currency, though, so when some online sportsbooks offer the option to maintain your account in CAD, you have to consider the options carefully. Here's a list of our pros and cons to help you choose.
Reasons to keep your account in Canadian Dollars:- Ease of understanding your betting amounts (no conversions required)
- No conversion fees (some books, payment processors and banks charge for this)
- No tracking of exchange rates
- Your account value could decrease if the currency you convert to weakens
Reasons to use a foreign currency for your betting account:- Alignment with your payment processor ( Your payment processor will make you choose a currency and stick to it. Not all sportsbooks will allow you to wager in CAD. If you plan on trying out several different sportsbooks you may want to use USD or EUROS so that you can keep to a single payment processor.)
- Wider variety of betting options are sometimes available.
- Your account value couls increase if the currency you convert to strengthens
